Photography planning - main feature artist - Ruby Demetra
Makeup ideas:
Possible outfits:
1) I think this outfit portrays Ruby's slightly edgy daytime look and would show off her original fashion style. This is important because she will be promoting her new fashion label in the article. However it might come across as too casual, I would need to make the tone of the article much more laid-back too.
2) This outfit perfectly portrays Ruby's girly extravagant style and would definitely show off her celebrity status and image. However it might make her seem less relatable to the readers so I would have to change the tone of my article to be less 'girl-next-door' and more A list celebrity. This would still appeal to my target audience as she would be an aspirational figure.
3) This outfit is a mix between casual and dressed up. Although it is suitably girly, I don't think it is either individual enough or glitzy enough to represent Ruby's personality so I don't think I will use it.
Possible locations for my photo shoot:
I think I will take studio shots as well as taking some with the wall as a backdrop and also the tube station in London for my front cover. The studio shots will make my magazine seem plush and professional and it will enable me to use idyllic lighting to highlight the features of Ruby's face. I will use quite natural but bright lighting with no shadows.
If I don't use the wall or station shots on my front cover, they could be useful as the main image in my feature article.

House style - colour scheme
Pink - I think this colour typically connotes femininity, and is used a lot in Top of the Pops. However my target audience is slightly older and listens to different music so the pink is darker than the hot pink Top of the Pops displays and also has some red tones because red connotes passion and love.
Blue - I've chosen a pale pastel blue for my colour scheme because it compliments the pink and purple very well. While blue is normally associated with males, I think the pastel colour is much softer and fringes on purple which makes it appropriate for my female target audience. Furthermore the pale blue connotes a tranquility I think is essential because I want my magazine to be all about fun, music and lifestyle, not any conflict.
Purple - my other two colours are very passive and pastel so this purple is very bold and royal. This colour suggests extravagance which relates to the lifestyles of the big celebrities I will feature. Furthermore, one of the themes I really want to come across is feminism and the power of successful women, so a strong colour is vital in promoting this. This colour will appeal to my target audience as it is very girly (like the pink) but still has deeper connotations of the values I want my magazine to portray.

Ideas for my magazine title
I chose : "voice" to be the title of my magazine as it was the one that majority of my peers (from my target readership age group) preferred. It was the only one that was a relevant issue for young people, whilst still connoting music and being simplistic enough to remember.

Top of the Pops magazine cover
This cover follows a grid-system in thirds. This layout makes it aesthetically pleasing to the reader as the symmetry is what we would expect to see. It also clearly separates the cover lines and images so it is physically easier to read.
